THE HUGGING LAMP
Summer 2017
Internship: MTRL Design
Omaha, NE
The idea behind my design was to create a recyclable light fixture that can adapt to, or “hug,” various existing environments and structures. My goal was to rethink cardboard as a static material and give it fluidity and life. I used Rhino to model the form and a laser cutter to translate it into the physical world. A rope light runs through the center and is hand frosted so as to distribute the light more evenly.
