TIP IN THE SCALE SHIRT
Fall 2018
Course: Good Design
For this project, students were given a word, in my case imbalance, and tasked to convey the word by reconstructing a plain white t-shirt, while still maintaining its “t-shirt-ness.” No additional materials could be used besides the fabric supplied in a single shirt. When designing with imbalance in mind, I wanted to make the garment both visually and physically unequal by displacing the fabric from one side to the other, emphasizing the absence of material while calling attention to the conscious design of the everyday t-shirt hidden by its ubiquity in the world.
